On Saturday March 1st, Mark Burroughs and family join hundreds of Denton residents inThe Great American Cleanup. The annual event sponsored by Keep Denton Beautiful is a communitywide effort to pickup trash and other debris in an effort to improve the appearance of our city. In 2007 over 250,000 pounds of trash and litter was collected by volunteers throughout the City of Denton.
Mark Burroughs and his family, wife Annie, daughter Maddie and son Mark Jr. were responsible for cleaning up an area along Ryan Road just east of Lake Forest Village. One of Mark’s primary concerns for Denton is the deterioration of the city’s appearance over the last several years. The failure of the Denton City Council leadership to address property maintenance and code enforcement has led to this decline in the city appearance.
The March 1st cleanup effort was a start towards improving how the city looks. Unfortunately it is a oneday event and is not an ongoing effort. The May 10th Denton Mayoral Election is an opportunity for voters to elect Mark Burroughs as mayor and to do even more in the effort to Keep Denton Beautiful.
