Mayor Mark Burroughs entered testimony (click here to see video - scroll to 1:01:00) at a Legislative Budget Board (LBB) hearing on the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality’s (TCEQ) Fiscal Years 2012 and 2013 proposed budgets. TCEQ is recommending reduction in funding to the Low Income Repair and Replacement Assistance Program (LIRAP) and the Texas Emissions Reduction Plan (TERP). These programs have been instrumental in reducing emissions in the North Texas region. As the newly elected Chair of the North Texas Clean Air Steering Committee (NTCASC), Mayor Burroughs was asked to go to Austin and enter NTCASC’s concerns with TCEQ’s proposed cuts to these programs.
